Dream Job in your Dream Company OR a Passion to Build One
When we were in College and during the Final years when the Campus placement process started , the only thing which we all discussed about is the multiple companies which are coming to the campus , friends who are getting selected and the compensation what they are getting paid.
Well I think almost 99% of the people have one major goal at that phase of life, getting into a MNC and then start getting paid.
How many of us are really worried about the job we are going to do in the companies of our choice?
A simple scenario, which might have happened in the lives of many people. We have chosen a company and considered it as our “Dream Company”, luckily, we are called for the interview and we get selected in the same company.
But in your Dream Company, you are given a Job or a role which doesn’t excite you. OH!!! What to do next?
A big dilemma !!Take the role which has been offered by your dream company, wait for some time and hope that you will be offered your dream role at some later stage of your career or start hunting again?
Well the answer may be different for each one as every person has their own list of priorities.
But we should not forget that every big MNC or company have started with that one single product or service which had the capability of solving one big problem for its target customers.
So why shouldn’t we think of building that one single product which will truly solve that one problem for its customers and can grow big by adding features or more services into it over the years.
People may comment that Entrepreneurship is not everyone’s cup of tea. May be true, but can’t we build up the knowledge of entire product management lifecycle in our early education system itself?
I think with so much emphasis from the Government of India about “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” , a right education about entrepreneurship and product management lifecycle in the early academic career will create wonders for our nation as well as help every passionate individual to invest his/her time in the career of his/her choice.
A choice of working on something about which you are passionate about which leads to spending your time on your dream JOB/Role and eventually someday you will create your own dream company.
After working for many years in my dream company and getting an opportunity to work on different world class products from scratch , in multiple roles I still believe that understanding the complete product management lifecycle or becoming a product manager of a product is like becoming a CEO.
My understanding and belief were given a right direction through the experiential learning provided by Institute of Product Leadership (IPL) when I enrolled myself for an executive MBA in “Product Management”.
A product Manager is simply the “core” of the product will have the following relationship with all others as shown below:
So, people may question, is the product manager a superman in the company? If not how does he do that?
The answer is simple: Product Manager is the reason for the success of his product because he has the Vision, the Instinct and the Obsession about it which is also needed by an Entrepreneur to build his Dream Company.
Well, the product manager is not a magician, he successfully delivers it based on tools , skillsets and a simplistic process.
